About Vespa Hartford

Vespa Hartford makes its home in the former Marlin-Rockwell machine tool manufacturing facility conveniently located in the Hartford suburb of Plainville. The 1940s brick and glass block facade is reminiscent of days when the Vespa scooter was popularized throughout postwar Europe as a solution to hard economic times and urban congestion. Owner Doug Day and wife Susan were keenly aware of the similarities to today's social context when they chose the Plainville Industrial Center location to introduce Connecticut to the motorscooter.

"We found that the most challenging aspect of breaking ground here was to educate the general public on exactly what a scooter is and what it can do", says Doug. "Fortunately, we've found our greater Hartford neighbors to be highly supportive, with a diverse local population who don't need to be convinced that the scooter makes good sense now as much as ever. Hardly a day goes by without someone stopping to reminisce about a Vespa they owned in Europe or even the U.S. It's great to have a well-informed customer who can pass along his enthusiasm for what a scooter has to offer to the person looking at one for the first time."

Stop by for a test drive and discover how the world's most stylish two-wheeled vehicle can provide a fun, affordable and environmentally-friendly solution to getting you wherever you need to go!
